greatest tool, a public
forum. Now you can talk and learn
about Omaha in the same place.
This new forum plans to be an integral

Old
Market Hotel Gets Ok'd
A Residence Inn by Marriot located on
12th and Jackson got backing earlier
this week from the Omaha Planning Board.
The hotel also received $2.5 million in
tax increment financing.
Residence Inn by Marriot, which is an
extended stay hotel, will stand six
stories tall and offer 118 rooms.
The first floor will feature commercial
space and restaurant. Construction
is to start in the spring of 2007 with
completion set for 1 year later in early
2008. The
all brick building will fit in nicely
with the historic Old Market in which it
will reside.

Work
to Start on Missouri Pedestrian Bridge
A ceremonial ground breaking will be
held at 9 am on Thursday (Oct. 26) on
the Nebraska side of the river.
Omaha Mayor Fahey and Council Bluff
Mayor Tom Hanafan will be in
attendance. Construction workers
and equipment are expected on the site
later this week.
Designed by Kansas City based HNTB
Corp., the bridge will span 3,000
feet across the river and will be hung
up by 200 foot tall twin towers.
It will cost $22 million and 2 years to
complete the project.
